Pete Chunn

Officer Peter Chunn has long been the man you could count on to have your back and keep you safe. The Port St. Lucie Police Officer and father of two was just 39 a few months ago when he was diagnosed with a cancerous congenital germ cell tumor in his chest. Currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment in preparation for an upcoming surgery, Officer Chunn, who is normally protecting everyone else’s life, has been unable to work since August. After seven years on the beat for the citizens of Port St. Lucie, it’s time for the community to come to the aid of one of its finest community servants.

On Wednesday, October 10th, the Van Duzer Foundation will be hosting a fundraiser from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Big Apple Pizza and Pasta at 2311 South 35th Street, Fort Pierce (directly across from IRSC) to benefit the Chunn family and help them through this difficult time. As always with Van Duzer Foundation events, one hundred percent of the proceeds from the evening will go to the Chunn family, including food and beverage sales, staff salaries, and tips. When Officer Chunn goes out on a call as a police officer, he never knows what to expect, yet he puts his own life on the line to make sure his beloved community and its inhabitants are safe and secure. On Wednesday, October 10th, just enjoying a pizza or sub and soda will help provide the same sense of security and peace of mind for Officer Chunn. Won’t you please join in helping one of Port St. Lucie’s finest?

For the past four years, the Van Duzer Foundation has found unique ways for everyone to positively impact the community and has raised and donated over $650,000 to St. Lucie County residents in need. For additional information on how you can become involved call Scott Van Duzer at (772) 528-3467.
